With proper installation and maintenance, FRP roofing sheets typically last 15-25 years or more in Malaysian conditions. The UV-resistant gel coat may show some weathering over time (chalkiness), but the structural integrity remains. Regular cleaning and inspection, as outlined in our maintenance guide, will maximize lifespan. Moon-Lite and Star-Lite grades generally have longer service life in harsh conditions due to their enhanced resin systems.

The recommended minimum roof slope is 5 degrees (approximately 1:12 fall) for standard FRP corrugated sheets. This ensures efficient water runoff and prevents water pooling. For low-profile profiles or in areas with heavy rainfall, steeper slopes may be beneficial. Always ensure end laps and side laps are properly sealed according to our design considerations.

FRP sheets can be walked on for maintenance purposes, but proper safety precautions must be taken. Use walk boards or scaffolding to distribute weight across multiple purlins — never walk directly on the sheets between supports. The sheets have limited flexural strength and can crack or weaken if subjected to point loads. For routine cleaning and inspection, we recommend using appropriate access equipment rather than walking directly on the roof.

FRP sheets are available in various light transmission levels from 13% (minimal light, maximum UV protection) to 75% (maximum daylight). Standard colors include clear, opal, and bronze. Custom colors can be ordered for minimum quantities. Light transmission affects how much natural light enters the building and how much heat is blocked — lower transmission provides better UV protection, higher transmission allows more daylight (reducing artificial lighting costs).

Clean FRP sheets at least twice yearly using a soft brush or sponge with mild detergent (pH-neutral). Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
